Every day is a new adventure for Hog Roast Buckley, which is part of what makes our job so interesting. One minute we could be catering for a milestone birthday, and the next, we might be helping a household name celebrate a big award.
Speaking of, our team was recently approached by Jaquie from Bovis Homes, who was keen for us to prepare something tasty for 50 guests. This wasn’t just any lunch, though. With Bovis Homes being announced as a 5-star housebuilder by the Home Builders Federation – the highest possible rating that the HBF can grant – and winning an award for their new build homes, Jaquie wanted to make sure this feast matched the importance of the occasion.
Our catering manager, Sam, was on the job and determined not to let the client down. He asked Jaquie all the right questions in the lead-up to the event, helping her narrow down menu choices until they came up with the perfect spread for the luncheon.
When the event went ahead earlier in the month at the Hatters Chase Site office in Sandymoor, Sam and the Hog Roast Buckley crew made sure everything was ready on time for the 12:30pm serve. Under blue skies (and our trusty gazebo), they crafted a delicious hog roast using a top-quality free-range pig that had been sourced from a local farm. The meat was doused with water and rubbed with salt before being cooked low and slow over a real flame until it was time to serve.
The results were drool-worthy. The crackling was crisp and fell away from the tender meat with ease. The applesauce and sage and onion stuffing balanced out the rich savoury flavours of the meat. And the sides? No one could resist our bold and colourful tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed salad, creamy coleslaw or freshly made sweet potato and classic fries, which were served with a selection of side sauces and seasonings.
Even the non-meat-eaters were in their element thanks to Hog Roast Buckley’s delicious grilled vegetable and halloumi kebabs. Paired with punchy sweet chilli sauce and a cool tzatziki dip, these flavourful skewers had everyone talking for all the right reasons.
The client was blown away with Hog Roast Buckley’s service and the team agreed it was the perfect reward for all their hard work!
