A Mountain Wedding Feast to Remember – Hog Roast Grassendale at The Coppermines!

Hog Roast GrassendaleIt probably won’t come as much of a surprise that the Lake District is home to some of the most distinctive wedding venues you’ll find anywhere in the UK. And, recently, Hog Roast Grassendale had the privilege of being asked to cater at one of the region’s most sought-after locations – The Coppermines Mountain Wedding Venue!

Cradled amidst the rugged beauty of the Coniston Fells and boasting panoramic views of the Coniston Water and rumbling waterfalls, it’s no wonder this venue is in such high demand. It’s raw, romantic, and ridiculously picturesque – making it the ideal spot for the dreamy wedding Mr and Mrs Metcalfe had in mind.

True to form, Hog Roast Grassendale were among the first to arrive on-site, greeted by crisp mountain air and jaw-dropping scenery. Not a bad way to start the day, if you ask us!

For their first feast as a married couple, the Metcalfe’s had picked our ever-popular Alfresco Menu. This crowd-pleasing spread comes with everything you could need for a party; a whole hog roast, a bounty of hand-crafted sides, and beautifully arranged antipasti platters.

With lots to prepare before the guests arrived, our team got straight to work – and believe us, there’s no better backdrop for food prep than towering peaks and a sunshine-drenched valley!

Hog Roast GrassendaleInside a stretch tipi, our team moved like clockwork. We had a full-size hog slow-roasting to golden perfection on one of our state-of-the-art grills, sage and onion stuffing sizzling in chafing trays, and mountains of crispy roast potatoes filling the air with comforting aromas. Meanwhile, serving staff made sure bamboo boards were piled high with artisan cheeses, Italian meats, crusty bread, grapes, olives, and rich preserves!

When it came time to serve, the spread was as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the taste buds. Colourful salads and creamy ‘slaws added a burst of freshness, while the main event – that beautifully crisped hog – had everyone drooling. With sunshine cascading over the hills, guests tucked in outdoors, creating a laid-back, joyful atmosphere that matched the setting perfectly.

And of course, we couldn’t end without something sweet! Hog Roast Grassendale’s mini cheesecakes and profiteroles drenched in chocolate (with a scattering of fresh berries) disappeared almost as quickly as we plated them.

Congratulations again to Mr & Mrs Metcalfe – and thank you for letting Hog Roast Grassendale be part of your spectacular mountain celebration. Here’s to love, laughter, and hog roast happily ever afters!
